Case Study
Co-op Employee Recognition
Co-op
Owned by millions of UK consumers, The Co-operative group is one of the worlds largest consumer co-ops with 3,750 outlets across the UK.
The Brief
The Co-operative Food group wanted to raise awareness of energy consumption and slash energy usage in all its Co-operative Food stores. Motivates was briefed to create an incentive campaign to motivate employees to help reduce energy usage across all stores.
Our Solution
Motivates launched a competition that would challenge employees, raise awareness and incentivise them to reduce the groups energy bills through good housekeeping and best practices, from switching off the lights to shutting fridge blinds at night. The Co-operative communicated the campaign with its stores via e-newsletters and posters.
The Result
The winning UK region was South Yorkshire. The 16 stores within the area shared £50,000 worth of Red Letter Days Experience vouchers to enjoy a memorable and rewarding day out.
- Staffs efforts across 2,800 stores made a 2.4 per cent like-for-like energy saving on previous years
- The energy saving equates to 9,218,229 kWh or more than £900,000 reduction to The Co-operative Food’s energy bill
- 296 colleagues are excited about taking part in their experience day in 2015
